My first run

Finally broke out the annie set today for some fun with my daughter Lindsey.[:D]

Was a great time! sorry no pictures were taken.

The Annie set surprised me in a few ways.

  1. I was under the impression that bachmann passenger cars were lighted by track power and only the older cars accepted batteries, these had batteries.
  2. Metal wheels on all the rolling stock.
  3. The chuff sound is great at slow speeds and if were a little bit louder i wouldn’t buy a sound card at all.
  4. Smoke- If the thing could smoke as well as it did a low speeds as much as higher speeds it might be worth keeping.
  5. Track- yep, still junk.

I also took my mogul build out to run it but realized I already pulled the track powered swipers out[D)][:-^]. However I did determine I will definately need a bigger radius curve due to relocating the front pilot wheels. They hit the cylinders on curves.

good look on the build.

Now that s cool Matt, but wheres the photos???

In a nut shell, my computer blew up and the memory card was full on the camera from taking pics earlier in the week of my other daughter’s birthday, I hadn’t reinstalled the software yet.

Sigh, always an excuse![V] Really, Matt, if your card is full, then just buy a new camera!

From what I understand of the Bachmann Big Hauler history, they do have a history of making sudden changes, some for the better and some for the worse. In any case, it’s not too difficult to change the cars to track powered lighting.

Well, right now it’s about 72 degrees outside and sunny, so no surprize what I’ll be doing the remainder of the day![8D]

I guess I should have said pleasantly surprized about having the batteries, I don’t intend to run on track power for very long, probably just this loco until my moguls done.

Well dome Matt.

Rgds Ian

Great! Now you’re hooked[:-,]

I spent the weekend at Ric Golding’s with my Annie. A great loco. Smooth, powerful, detailed, reliable, handles rough track and tight curves…

I do sometimes run the smoke. It is quite nice.

Ah come’on Matt

When ya gonna build a layout?

If I could squeeze enough blood out of a brick and build my tiny outdoor layout so can you! You actually have some space to do it!

Just get some concrete retaininger blocks build a rectangle about 10’ square and fill it with dirt, lay a loop of track and your off and running!

[:p]

Vic,I need to get some “REAL” track first. I’m going to with the new AMS stuff, probably spring for a box real soon!

Torby, I’ve been hooked for a long time. Why else would I scratch build two boxcars, a reefer, and work on bashing a loco with out ever running anything till this past weekend
but being able to keep the “vision” in site[:p][:D][;)] Probably more like a junkie[:I]

Ian, Thanks!

TJ, I think not. If I did that I wouldn’t be able to afford track[;)]
