My first scratch building project

Well today I finished my first Scratchbuilt stucture. The shed walls were first mad of cardboard then wooden planks were added. I then placed windows and doors. Finlly I added the roof by cutting paper in strips to give it a shingle effect. Some light weathering chalk made it look like it had seen it’s better days. Enjoy the pics.

Hey, very nice. I have a similar looking structure but paid $$ for a kit. Yours looks as good if not better, especially the roof. Nice work.

Looks good Alex!

Kurt

Good job. Say where did you score those windows, please?

Excelent job!

You did a nice job on that Alex !! [:)] Awaiting to hear where you got the window !! [(-D]

Thanks, John

So, when does the conductor w/lantern come flying out the door?

Nice job.

Looks great, are you going to give her a foundation? I use 1/2 in foam and cut some brick or cut stone patterns on the outside, paint them a concrete color and your set… oh and don’t forget the floor!

Nice work Alex!

Hey Guys, Thanks for the suggestions, I think I’ll add a foundation to it! About the windows I had picked them up at Just trains they are Korber double hung windows which I painted Southern RR green. for the glass I got the plastic printer paper and sprayed it with Dull Coat, which gives it a frosted glass look. I just made an outhouse last night, but I need to add some trim.

Alex

Very nice job Alex,

I think you should give that outhouse to the Chief, as his office is one of those[;)]

Not a bad idea

Very nice, Alex. And I’ll bet you didn’t find it all that difficult. I’ll look forward to seeing more of your handiwork.

I am ging to build a Henhouse next I think, so when thats done I will post it.

Very nice! Who needs a kit when you can get results like that!

I had thought about getting a kit, but some of them are pretty expensives, so I thought I’d give scratchbuilding a try, and hey it came out pretty nicely!

Alex

Very cool!

Thank You!
