I bought my first Williams train today at a swap meet in Ohio. Boy is it nice. A Virginian FM, blue and yellow. It pulls so good, looks great and the price was great!!! If you don’t own a Williams, and are looking for a new engine, buy a Williams. True, they don’t have all the bells and whistles of Lionel or MTH, but what pulling power! I highly recommend them. Wi***hey would have had a black Norfolk Southern, but maybe down the road…[:D]
I agree,
williams has great locos. I own a Williams “shorty” GG1 and am totally satisfied with it.
Yes, bought my first Williams [2 NS SD90’s]. Looks like they will pull the world of a train. Only tested on the Chief Eagles Very Short Line Railroad but they work great.
I agree too,
Williams does put out some really nice trains. I got a reproduction of the lionel 726.
IMO Williams diesels are the best value for their money. Some are priced the same as Dummies made by the other companies; only these contain 2 powerful Mabuchi motors and metal gears.
Anytime Williams comes out with blue and yellow Santa Fe, I get one. The SD-45 is scale sized; 2 inches longer than it’s shorty RailKing cousin.

Was SUPER EXCITED last night or was it this morning??? Around midnight as I was servicing the rolling stock and the last of the diesels that had been boxed up, I decided to run the two new Williams NS SD90’s hooked together. Well, they ran excellent. Before I had reported that they got “crossed up” and one was in neutral and one still pulling. Did not happen this time. Fast or slow speed. Backwards or forwards. I had figured it was the old ragidy test track I had hooked up. Now with the 072 circle and etc [even ran through switches], they did not get “crossed up”. I bet they will really be impressive when they get up off the floor and on a real layout. I love to report good news. [:D]
Great to hear!!! My layout is screaming for me to get a NS engine soon!
This summer will be a major layout redesign and re-build. The alloted space has been cleared and preped, green light to go for construction has been issued. Once work is completed on the table top and track, I will start to my quest for the engine.
Why is it that Williams has their act together and the others don’t? I never read about Williams stuff being defective and shipped back for repairs.

I have several Williams. Love the 6 SP aluminum luxury liners and the F7 ABA I bought a few months ago. I am currently waiting on a BNSF SD 90 with sound board installed, should arrive tomorrow. I am sure it will run as smooth as all the others…Tim
Williams uses the KISS(Keep It Simple Stupid) principle. l It works every time.
I’d love to buy a Williams. But I need dummies. They either don’t have them in stock, or they are all sold out :(:(
More excitement. I did it again with a longer train and hopper cars loaded with coal [not plastic]. They ran together great adn did not “cross up”. Only problem is the bells got out of sinc. So when you ma***he bell button the front one rang and when you mashed it to stop, the back one started. Horns stayed in sinc. Ran them frowards and backwards fast and creaping. Reversing units stayed in sinc.[8D]
I have three Williams engines. A VGN rectifier, GN SD-45, and CBQ GP-38. They are fantastic preformers and I love the true blast II digital horn. My favorite is the SD-45. Like you guys say, they were a bargain. I’m chewing on the Golden Memories pricing. They seem higher than what Williams is known for. I wi***hey would do their E7’s in Texas special along with their 72 foot plastic streamliner cars.
They are great frugal minded trains.
And you can upgrade to TMCC and still be ahead of the game.
Got my first Williams engine 2 years ago, a PRR GG1. It is a great runner, since then have gotten 4 more PRR Williams engines, and all run like champs. The latest ones are F7 AA and GP9. They seem to just keep running on.
I have several of his GP-9’s. They run well, pull well, track well ( seldom derails) and they look good at an affordable price. I have upgraded a couple of them to TMCC.

I just found this topic. Out of 30 motive power (including 7 trolleys), I have 6 Williams locomotives. I love these engines
