I finally got around to posting some new shots from this summer to my g scale layout website. Most of the newer shots appear on the “Updates” page. Enjoy.

John,
My family has a house about 20 miles outside of Durango Colorado. But I’m in Southern California right now for law school.
SW Chief,
Great photos. Looks like a fabulous layout. How much area does it cover? How do you handle drainage issues?
Keep the pics coming.
Nice site!! Love that roundhouse and turntable! [:D]
Thanks all,
Dan (sorry about the late response but I was in San Diego over the weekend for a law conference),
Anyway, the layout is about 250 feet end to end. On one end is a turntable and on the other end is a reverse loop. Drainage hasn’t been much of an issue, although we sure get heavy monsoons in late summer. The biggest help is a natural drainage channel that the railroad crosses over on two six foot bridges. With this being a natural drainage gap the rain water flows down this and not down the layout.
Here’s a picture of the twin bridges spanning the natural water shed:

Very nice. I remember traveling the “Million Dollar Highway” out of Silverton in about 1956.
