My Lake is done, what do you think?

Here are some shots of my lake, the liquid water was some awful smelling stuff , I had to add some activities at the lake, one is based on a pic I’ve seen on this site of a tow truck pulling a car out of a lake, I have a lost cow, skinny dippers and even a sub, what more could some one want in a lake.?

I’ll throw in a few pics of the quarries progress as well as my interchangeable house lots and street work so far.

I finally found some proper earth working tools,

Oh I do plan on an X-Files type scene also,

Very very nice work Jess. I just love all your crazy stuff, the X-file part will be brilliant. I just love the X-files, maybe I should steal that idea from you.

I’m honored that you would steal an idea from me, why not, I got the insperation for the car in the lake here but I didn’t want it to be exactly as my Model rail Roading brother had done his.

he had his tow truck actually hooked onto the car so I decided that I wouldn’t copy his to the letter so mine is in the “investigation” phase of the recovery, to the man who I “stole” this scene idea from I hope that you are not offended.

Today I must go to work for a 24 hour shift and I shall be bringing some stuff to create different park statues, I want to be able to honor different people by creating a park statue on a base, (see round blank lot on layout) my first one is going to honor our astronauts and then a Native American Warrior and so on, I;m making the bases out of white air dried clay and will be topping them off with plastic toy figures that will be painted up to look like either marble or copper that has turned that nice greenish color, of course like most other things on the layout these statues will be interchangeable, I will even be so fair as to do one to honor the Great American Western Cow Boy, just don’t tell the people of my tribe or I’ll be looking for a new village to live in [(-D]

I’m glad that I made so much storage space under my layout I’m going to need it for all these interchangeable items and components.

I remember when my last layout was complete I was sad when the creative process was over so now it will not have to be that way.

PS my addition still stinks from the realistic water resin, I sure hope this goes away before the wife gets back!

Jess, sure beats the heck out of the regular run of the mill stuff we all do!! (BIG SMILE - DON’T KNOW WHY THE SMILEYS AREN’T WORKING!!)

The blue color of the water reminds me of an old limestone quarry I used to go swimming in.[tup]

If you want to add a more common color, I find lots of statues tend toward a brownish or dark grey coloration (Example Here - a close match could be grimy black (or weathered black), or if you can find anodized Bronze in a rattle spray can that looks good too (please add a dull coat, or at least a semi-gloss coat over the finish - only if the statue has been recently gold-leafed does it look super-shiny Shiny gold-leaf statue. Actually, I think I see a whole lot of shiny things that shouldn’t be shiny in your layout pictures, and I have contacted the Model Hobby Police (same as Fox security) about you, so you better busy with the dullcoat dude!

Man, for some reason I think you would have loved the peak of the tyco operating accessory era…(I was there in the late '70s, and I sure did (the burlington boxcar which kicked out crates when activated was my favorite, for some reason)
