That’s a great looking locomotive, Ken. It should pull like a horse, too. Thanks for showing it to us. I hope it works well for you.

So…Just how did you get a nice brass Mike like that for $80??

I always enjoy seeing some of the brass stuff you get. This is one of the nicest yet.

Ken,Nice looking engine…How does it run?
I had several brass locomotives in the 60s…My favorite still remains that little PFM/United B2 2 truck Shay. Then after that my PFM/United AT&SF 1950 class 2-8-0…
it runs great
so smooth
not bad for an open frame type motor

What a deal, it’s true, the price of brass is going down on some locomotives, I believe akane is one of the better brass builders, good on you !
Ken,I figure it would be a good runner…You see Akane steamers was equal to Balboa,Sunset and PFM/Tenshodo but,IMHO a tad behind PFM/United as far as tie to tie creep.
You got a great deal…[tup]
Ken–
Let me add my congratulations–that Akane will probably pull as many cars as the prototype! Handsome devil (is that their B&O prototype model?). Akane was famous for their smooth mechanisms. I’ve got quite a few Akane brass on my roster, and they’re extremely trouble-free and beautifully put together and they last and last and LAST! And boy, do those babies PULL!
Enjoy it, that’s one gorgeous 2-8-2.

thanks tom
yes this is the B&O Q-B4 baldwin mikado
check out this sanding tower $20
not sure but looks like new jersey international
just add this to my latest acquisition of brass

I looked at a couple of Akane auctions since you posted this. I think it’s kind of strange. The auctions are either right around $100 or right around $500. There didn’t seem to be anything in the middle. I know different locos are going to sell for different $$$. But such a wide $$$ gap? Anyone got an idea why?
this one was $168.51

the paint looks so good in the photo. so I can’t be sure yet, but I like the silver.
what do you think naked brass or paintd silver?
it came with a light tower too, but sadly thats not also brass. but $20 for both what the heck
K
Does no one want brass anymore? I can’t believe an engine of this calibre went for that price, he actually gave it away, Canadian eh???
a Trolly
now this looks like a fine paint job
but for $14 I gues its not too bad
lets see what I can do with this one
