Just placed an order with the only hobby shop in Wyoming. Walthers.
Got the 2007 Walthers Catalog,
2007 Model Railroader Calendar,
IHC (Former Tyco) Fruit Store and Dentist Office
Woodland Scenics Flag Depot.
Guess since I have now bought the correct depot for my layout that settles the question if I am going to keep working on it or do something completely new.
Some wheathering yes. But just eneugh to indicate the building wasn’t built last week, and that it gets proper upkeep and maintence. Also planning on full lighting and interiors. Some of the buildings further back might not get obsessive compulsive treat ment, but these buildings are planned for near the front of the layout, So extra investment in detail is important to me for these models.
Walthers is not the only hobby shop in Wyoming – I patronize Cherry Creek Hobbies in Torrington, Wyoming all the time and have found his prices to be very reasonable.
No I have not heard about Cherry Creek Hobbies. But then no surprise. Torrington is almost in Nebraska and I live 2/3s the way to the other side. At least the hobby shops that were in Casper and Douglas I could stop in on my way through. But Torrington is pretty far off the beaten track.
Though I do have a question for cacole. How is it that you being from Arizona, come to patronize a hobby shop that exists in the sleepiest corner of the state. The highway through there goes to Scottsbluff sure. (Where the larger population would better warrent a hobby shop) and ends at I-25.
So I will concede that there is now a hobby shop in wyoming. But Its so far away I would still have to do the mail order tango. So Walthers it stays for now.
Looking at the map, It looks pretty far off the beaten track, out into the country a bit. Wonder its operated by appointment out of a stall in his garage.
I always thought the Lincoln (Kemmerer, Cokeville) and Sublette (Marbleton, Big Sandy) Counties area was the sleepiest corner [:D]. The few times I was in Torrington I had a nice time.
Regarding Cherry Creek Hobbies - my money goes elsewhere, thank you. I e-mailed the guy once for some information and he just deleted the e-mail (I had “read receipt” turned on, so I got the “not read” receipt when he deleted the e-mail). I guess rude exists everywhere. I would have liked to spend my hobby dollars in Wyoming , being born and raised there, but I’m not going to beg someone to take my money.
