The 23rd Annual Neuse River Valley Model Railroad Club Train Show will be held Nov 3 & 4, 2007 (Saturday: 9am - 5pm / Sunday: 9am - 5pm) at the State Fairgrounds on Hillsborough Street.
There will be plenty of vendors and layouts. I will be there with my N Scale PRR Middle Division layout as well. Hope to see you there if you’re in central North Carolina!!!
I’ll be there on Saturday with the family, and looking forward to seeing you and the layout again. I’ll have the camera again and hope to take some more photos and videos too!
We attended the 23rd Annual Neuse River Valley Model Railroad Club Train Show at the NC State Fair Grounds located in the Exhibition Hall and it was another fun railroad event. Actually got to stick around a bit longer than usual, about 3 hours and took many photos and a few movies too. We arrived at around noon and started making our way around the tables; I bought a few railroad signs for the train room door.
But the first real treat was when we found ourselves at Dave Vollmer’s N scale layout display. Dave has added a small staging yard to one end of the layout. This N scale layout is set up on a hallow core door and is very portable, he has also just added the signaling electronics that mimic the prototype. His layout is based on the Pennsy Railroad and features the coal, freight, and passenger traffic of that era. Here are a few more photos of Dave’s N scale layout.

Also took a few videos of Dave’s layout and those can be viewed on the Piedmont Division YouTube Channel:
Nah… I’m probably going to hang low for awhile![:-^]
This was my last “hurrah” before I really need to buckle down on my PhD dissertation. While I may do the show circuit as a spectatcor, I won’t have the time for the set-up, display, and tear down.
Ryan, those videos are embarassing! [:I] I had no idea I was running the trains that fast…[:O]
Oh, here’s a note. On Sunday afternoon my trains started running hot and fast, and at a few instances started shorting out the layout. My Shark decoders were getting hot to the touch. I couldn’t figure out why.
Last night I reconnected the DCC system and discovered the toggle switch had been bumped from N to O/G!!!
Oops! Not sure if I did it or a show-goer, but now I know! Thank goodness I didn’t toast any of my decoders!
Not sure why, but even the Sipping and Switching crew was running their trains really fast too!
Hey, it was a train show and all the kids (me included) had a lot of fun, besides when we were there you were busy scarfing down a burger… [dinner] and taking care of the kids… [tup]
Actually, if you want I can pull the videos from YouTube if you want! Just let me know!
