I finally finished the laying of thr track today. I also (well my wife) finished the wiring to. It runs real good. Now… The top part of the layout (angle part) will have a coal yard. The part of the layout is raised, and makes it way to about half way down the main line. The pull off starts the hill climb, and the track that the pulloff runs into also starts the climb. The lower part of the layout (orange yard) will be more ground level. I will have a scrap yard, at the back marked pulloff track, and the orange will be a steel mill. I can ruther 2 trains at a time. One is a NS diesel, and the other is a NS switcher “River Street Rambler”. I do have some mountains down and some are painted but next weekend, I will try to post some pictures at next weekend photo fun.
Now. The 2 tracks that look like they go nowhere are going to a future yard on the other side of the layout. The one track is going under a bridge, and the other track us going threw a X track. Theres still a good bit to do, but I am glad it all runs.

Wow I dont know man, but that design is very very similar to my current layout. It is so similar in fact I wonder if you just copied my design? Its all good. Seriously though that is what I have on my layout but it has grown much bigger than that initial design you have. Although it is still a part of the layout it has grown. In my opinion I think the design is nice, however if I was you I would not expect to get that many spurs on the right> side dogbone.
It looks to me like you have 2-3 reverse loops in there.
First of all, I couldn’t have copied your design. My wife and I worked together to come up with the design that we have. Plus, it’s not finished yet. There will be secondary loop added later. Second of all, how could I have copied your design. I’ve never seen your design.
Yes, there are 2-3 reverse loops. But after some patience and a good wiring book, I was able to get everything to work.
Slow the horses man I was not being all that serious, relax. Second of all it is very similar to mine and it is a **** good design that you and your wife has come up with. Its ok that great minds think alike. I will find the picture of the design and you see how they both look so much alike ok
No, problem. There are several people out there that take layout idea stealing serious. Anyway… I wouldl like to see how close they are in comparison.
Here is the design of mine. Very similar huh? The priginal design was just the dogbone part like yours. Yours is just upside down to mine thats all.
Yes they do look kinda alike. Yours seem way bigger thou. My layout is more like a romm size of 8x10. Its in a basement, but I just didn’t wanna take up all of the space.
