MY LAYOUT WAS PUBLISHED!!!

Unfortunately, not by Model Railroader, but by a Japanese annual N-Scale magazine named N-Gauge o Tanoshimu! (Enjoy N-Gauge!). They must be hard up for layouts over here! Anyway, the article (twelve pages) and some of the pictures appear on my web page at http://ddwngauge.homestead.com/index.html on the “Layout Photos” page. Ahhh, if I could only read it…[sigh]

Way cool!!! Congrats Don!!!

I can’t imagine how good it feels to get your work published in any modeling magazine. I’ve gotten two letters published in MRR’s RPO and it felt GREAT! But to have an article on your modelling? SUPER!!!

Congratulations Don !
they really published a lot of pictures!

great work ! [tup]

( slightly off this topic ) now this we might have missed if the forum was dived in different scale forums! ( as some suggested )

That is something to be proud of for sure, congrats.

good job!..Chuck[:D]

congratualtions !!

Congratulations! Clicked on the photos and I’m REALLY impressed! Wonderful detail, BEAUTIFUL scenery!

Regardless of the magazine, congratulations. It’s something to be very proud of.

Very nice, Don![^]

Don, Simply amazing job!! What an inspiration!! Congratulations, you have something to be extremely proud of!! WOW![:0]

Kudos Don

It would be nice to see them published in MR, Any chance?
Your scenery is excellent and would make an excellent article in its self.

Beautiful work, very impressive layout. The magazine spread is also very well done, with many more photos than we are accustomed to seeing in a layout article. Congratulations.

Let me get this straight, you essentially started, not just the layout, but your model railroading hobby, last year? If so, double congratulations.

Thanks for all the heartwarming comments. I was leery of posting this thread, because I didn’t want to appear to be bragging. On the other hand, I want as many people as possible to see DDW; and, as I’m isolated here in Japan, the forum seemed the best way.

Fergie, I submitted text and pictures to MR for publication, and they are interested. But, the pictures I sent were not quite good enough quality for publication. The Japanese photographer who took the pictures is going to send me some proofs, and I will forward some of them on the MR (he has already given permission to do so). Anyway, keeping my fingers crossed.

Ed, you’re right. The Japanese magazines usually publish lots more pictures than the American magazines I’ve seen. Probably, most of us would prefer to see more pictures and less text in all layout articles. And, yes, I kind of just jumped in to model railroading in January of 2003 and finished the layout in January of 2004. Most of the layout construction was done on weekends, and I worked on buildings on weekday evenings. Once the basic landforms were complete and painted, the scenery went on quickly, except for all those trees on the mountains. Very tedious.

Thanks again, everybody.

I wouldn’t consider it bragging. You should be proud of the work you have done.

Congrats. Keep us the good work.
