G’day guys, It’s been a while since I could post here, So I thought I’d show some photographs from my recent modelling escapades and my most recent railfan trips. [:)]
I’m not going to try crash your computers, But i’d say there will be a few pics!
In this shot you can see my foam carved mountain, and some of my trackwork (Tillig HOm 12mm) which has since been all laid, I’ll take some more photo’s this weekend.
This is a VAK 71 tonne Coal Hopper, I built this from a kit, and painted/decalled it too. I have another 19 to go. The Graffitti is a decal, which is a downsized photograph from a real hopper, so it’s prototypical. [:)] (don’t start a flame war about graffitti, please.)
This is a birds eye view of one of my Tillig 12mm points, I will use white painted Caboose Ind. ground throws to operate them.
Here you can see four HJS open wagons, they are over 40 years old and are still in use, mainly on spoil trains. A few still have their original wheelsets, which are spoked steel.
Now for the real stuff!
In this photograph you can see two 90 tonne Clydes (GM) shunting/unloading a 21 car Bulk Molasses train at Kingsthorpe, west of Toowoomba, Qld (roughly 250km from Brisbane) This train orginated in North Queensland, about 1550km away.
After being given authority to traverse the next section ( No DTC/CTC out here!) two 2300 Class Clyde/GM locomotives power up their coal train ready to depart Kingsth
A note to everyone posting pics:Please make sure that the pictures your post are 100K or smaller. It will significantly cut down on the amount of time it takes to load for those of us you still have dial up.
Here are a couple of pics of a PRR Flag stop that I’m putting together for a friend of mine.
I like it on the way up the range and the other side of Toowoomba! much more photogenic!
For the 2300’s I will go Black Diamond, I’ve got a Wuiske 2170 Maxi cab kit, that i’ve still got to paint, i’m not game to do it yet! i’m going to do a few more wagons yet! My rollingstock will be 95% Wuiske, Mainly because 50% will be Coal hoppers and the rest will be Container flats and grain wagons.
Kallangur! I’m just down the road (sort of) at Bracken Ridge in Brissie. amazing who you meet in cyberspace! maybe a meet one day… at the Brissie MR show? [;)]
Ah, The Sandgate show, I quite enjoy it. [:)] I must say i was a little disappointed at this years AMRA show… They have some new administrators in…so i’m sure it’ll all be sorted by next labour day long weekend.
Very nice photos James, it is interesting to see some different locomotives. The ballast in the station has to be the cleanest real-life ballast job that I have ever seen!
Tom, you structure looks really nice. You are becoming and expert at wooden floor interiors! I have some ideas for you and will send a PM.
Started to convert the On30 railroad to Sn3.5 in the 1870’s. (Click photos to enlarge)
The oil transfer facility underway. Our underconstruction merged HO Athearn/Roundhouse-Oldtime IHC 4-4-0 with the new S scale cab. I looked at this area for 3 years and could not get started on an O scale version. I guess I am an S scaler.
A new S scale tunnel has been installed and the roads are being narrowed.
Sn3.5, that is the nomenclature used worldwide not Sn42, is great for narrow gauge. You can build credible models from HO mechanisms and Model Power even makes freight cars that are suitable.
Model Power/Mantua “HO” 1860’s cars are the right size for 1870’s S scale narrow gauge.
well im in kansas unfortunately[#ditto] great pics by everyone and yes it is nice to be off of dialup.dont know how i lived with it for all these years.terry…
O/T… but the 2006 Census came out… 43% of Aussies are now connected to Broadband internet. the other 47 are either on Dial up or not at all. Whats the broadband to dial up ratio over in the states/Canada?
Some have no choice in the matter. It maybe an affordability issue, OR cable, DSL, or other wireless not (yet) available in some parts still. My dialup is ok compared to some. They pay a long distance charge for every minute they are calling the dialup service! Talk about expensive. It may be a serviceability issue, or it may be coverage issue.
When I use it, I have to go outside my house to find the sweetspot for my cell phone. It doesn’t always “see” the tower. In my own house! Thank goodness I won’t give up my landline or I’d Never be staying online!
Thank you humbly from those who have dialup to those who are considerate of us still!!![:)][;)][bow][tup]
Oh,yes, and now if I could only find a supplier of new spark plugs for my model T…
Dont fret Dailup users, Fiber is coming. They can carry a connection to a home 180 miles away on a peice of cable lighter and more robust than simple copper.
I run fast DSL and retired dailup a long time ago, it was more expensive but worth it. I probably will upgrade again when they reach my area with Fiber in the hopes of getting rid of the satellite dish that does not stay connected in rain.
Enough about broadband, I wanted to say also that I loved the 4-4-0 picture… it was outstanding.
I was just able to get DSL about 6 months ago. They ran all new fiber optics where I live and still have us limited to 100kbps. At least it ain’t dial up!
