hey guys how are we all today? im good apart from the fact my mum threw out my september 05 MR [:(] i was annoyed because i keep all my mags as a reference later on, and i cant really afford the $20.00 to order it direct from kalmbach so yeah if anyone wants to donate their copy to me [^] i would appreciate it, i hope i dont come across as a charity looking for pity, but i really miss that mag.
I’m slowly filling out my collection. They can usually be found for $0.25-$0.50 if you look long enough. September 2005 should be easy to find. I am looking for September 1955.[:)]
Call around to any hobby shops or large magazine dealers in your area. One or more of them may have back issues that haven’t sold or been disposed of yet.
If that doesn’t work, e-mail me and I will try to find a copy for you. If I find one, I’ll need your mailing address to send it to you.
I am looking for the December issue of MR. I received my copy, but my grandson really wanted a “train” magazine, so I gave it to him. I figured I could still get a copy at the newsstand or hobby shop, but haven’t taken the time to go get it yet.
In my house, NOBODY throws out ANY train stuff! PERIOD!!
Rollieman: no theres one a year and one in ipswich ( near brissie) and a couple of smaller ones, we have the largest in the s/hemisphere in April around the third week in.
tutaenui: i was in the family room with a stack of newspapers etc. i meant to grab it that night but forgot, the next morning it was gone ! (gasp) mum insists she didnt touch it, but oh well these things happen
James,
Hope you’re making some kind of index on your PC re reference articles per MR issue.
I have that on my “to do” list. Got tired of hours hunched over a seemingly endless pile of MR’s looking for that “how to” article. It’s amazing that an article I thought was fairly recent winds up being 6 or 7 months back.
Once I was looking for an article about adhesives, wanted to find out best way to unglue my CA’ed fingers. Turned out that one was a couple of years back. Did you ever try flipping magazine pages with your fingers glued together?
I have been to five or six this year. The Brisbane Minature train show is the largest, but there are ones in Ipswich, Gold Coast, Toowoomba plus local “club” run shows at Bald Hills, the UP club, Sandagate and All-Gauge at Carina.
I have managed to purchse older MRs at most of these shows. If you are desperate ring Austral at Mt Gravatt or J&J , they usually have enough copies to have a few older ones left over or a few that havent been collected by regulars.
good idea countershot, and Grubby where abouts are you in Brissie? im in Bracken Ridge, also do you know where i can get walthers structures in Brissie or around the place, i dont recall seeing any at the Brisbane Miniature show. do you know?
