Just putting the annoucment up that I now have a new job as a Locomotive Operator for a company called Rail Link. Rail Link is a company that does the in mine loading of the coal trains and delivers them back to BNSF and UP once they are done. This job will pay about twice my current job and for the time being will be making all the overtime I want. Once I find a new place, I plan on redoing my curret “Morgan Valley” layout (Atlas Plan HO-30) and expand it by continuing down the line with a streatched version of the layout shown in the book HO Layout from Set to scenery. From there, I should have my house completed and I can move the layout into there and continue expanding from there. I kind of have the first expansion in the new house planned based on Atlas plan HO-36. Thats as far as I have things figured out so far. But its definatly a step in the right direction.
Thanks for your congrats. And your right a few months ago things were very bleak indeed. Depression is definatly not something I wish on anyone. And I hope its not something that ever happens again.
Congradulations James on the new job. Glad everything worked out for you and hope to see any updates that you do to your layout. Getting to operate trains everyday! Man I envy you! Good Luck Jim
That is true. But while there isn’t any time left over for hobbies. I can probably afford that empty Superwalmart in my back yard to set everything up in LOL.
Congrats on the job !! Kick em east fast so we have something to do around here ( its all on you now!) For now I am going to be on Z S and Q trains till I cant hold that anymore, then it may be back to Junk Junk and Coal trains!
Youll learn the GEs independent brake sucks ( my opinion not everyones) so when moving slow I play with it while leaving the throttle in notch 1. But then I never had cars getting heavier and heavier behind me like you will. Good luck and yes Wyoming is such a nice area even though desolate.
Well you and I know better, but because there isn’t massive throngs of people, and multi level, 2000 store shopping malls on every street corner. Lots of people think its a desolate place. Thats Ok though. Let them stay away and keep the property taxes low.
That is true, but for the time being, if I get the over time I want, I might be able to skip the step finding some place to live and move right into Building that fancy roof for my nice wide open unobstructed basement I have been dreaming about.
Getting to play with real trains is the bomb. Everyone should be so lucky!
My personal spot in Wyoming the route south from Cody to Thermopolis. I’ve often thought about retiring out to Thermopolis some day, but that’s probably a pipe dream, though we’ll see.
Thermopolis is a very pretty place, However, If you want to retire out there, better buy your house/property now, because I have the funny feeling that once lander is full of the Multi Millionares that have been pushed out of Jackson by the Multi-Billionares, they will go to Thermopolis next. On another note though, buy your property in the right spot, and you can have a natural mineral hot spring in your bathroom LOL.
