I thought whether to put this in the SPF or create a seperate thread. I figured I should start a seperate one due to the fact that this is my first MTH engine.
My thoughts on this engine is that its very well detailed, it runs good, and sounds great. My only concern is that it’s blue doenst look the right color. Most CSX’s in YN3 that I see have Dulux Gold and very dark blue. However, this engine is more light blue with the correct yellow. The comparison is seen in the last photo with my SD40-2 from Lionel.
MTH usually gets the colors right. From your pictures, the SD70ACe looks correct. Keep in mind, the prototype uses several different paint shops, which has lead to different hues of the same blue. The SD70’s are painted at the EMD factory, whereas the older second generation diesels (like your SD40-2) are repainted in a CSX paint shop. Go trackside;you’ll see what I mean.

Grayson I have seen the variation in paint shades at the Parsons yard here in Columbus. By the way you need an orange painted MOW loco with black CSX [:D] I think weaver may have offered one a year or two ago.
My new glasses make everything seem exteramly bright is it suppose to be like that??? At least I can see street signs better.
