i just got my atlas dash 8-40b from ebay and i love it. (why cant there be more locomotives this good?)one problem-it makes just the slightest grinding sound. its never been run before, so will this go away? can live with it if it wont, but it would still be noce if it was as quiet as my u23b.

Most new engines will do that… Give it some break in time running at medium speed for 30minutes to an hour forward and then for the same time in reverse. Without a load, then you can do it again WITH a load…
[#ditto] I do the same with my Athearn’s. Makes a world of difference.
