My observations at the Whitby Train Show.

My club was at the Whitby, Ontario train show this past weekend with our show layout. The show was good and had lots of quality vendors selling stuff and lots of great looking layouts. A couple of things I’ve noticed over the weekend was the number of husband AND wives that are getting into model railroading. I myself must have had 20 couples asking me a ton of questions about parts of our layout and how we built certain things. My other observation was that I think DCC has now become more popular then ever. 95% of the people I talked to have DCC, are in the process of getting DCC or they are at the show to learn more about DCC. I had a good time explaining how it works to people and how easy it really is to use. Most people I talked to about it were a little afraid of it but once you explain it and show how easy it is to wire I think they left feeling a bit more confident.

how would you compare it to the toronto show a couple of weeks ago ?
bigger , smaller ?
more or less people visiting ?
etc.

whitby is harder for me to get to , but if it’s a better show insome way , i may make the effort next year

It was alot smaller and probably had a lot less people visiting but I thought it was a more entertaining show. George’s Trains were there as well.
