My roadbed is finished (pictures)

I have been working on the roadbed between the lower and upper level. It’s now finished. The next step will be to add midwest cork roadbed on top of the masonite splines. And then it’s time to start laying ME track. I added a train so you can see how big the layout is. This is just a small part of it. To see the whole trackplan, go to my website.

Impressive. [:D] [tup]

What are the actual dimensions of the room/layout?

I don’t have the numbers here right now. But you can look at this trackplan. It’s the Big Ten Curve area I’m talking about in the pictures.

A good layout starts with good “bones”. It looks like you have accomplished that. Keep up the good work.

Man, don’t start a fire in there. That is quite a forest of Home Depot product.

Nice, its a work of art in its own right.

Those Big Ten curves have me drooling![:P] If I’m ever in Sweden, can I bring my Rio Grande L-131 2-8-8-2 over and try it out, LOL? That’s just BEAUTIFUL!

How many trees did you have to kill for that benchwork? haha.

You are firing on all cylinders, EL. It looks like it’s going to be a heck of a layout once you are finally running trains. What is the grade on the closest loop in the first image? Looks to be near 2.5%.

A whole forest

Sure you can

Pretty close. It’s 2.4%

Too bad I wasn’t that good when I was laying my own “3%” grades. [B)]

Yes it’s a lot of wood. I will build a hidden staging yard underneath everything.

I always look fwd to seeing your progress. It looooooooooks grrrrreat!!

Benny,

That looks great! I think your ‘Freight Forwarding Partner’ is about to send you some rolling stock. Look for it around April 10th or so.

Amazing…can’t wait to see the finished product![:)]

All I can say is WOW!!! Great start.

Electro:

Some great looking benchwork and roadbed there … but I have a couple questions.

  1. How do you plan to get access to the far track up against the backdrop in the loop area once the scenery is installed?

  2. How wide is the benchwork where the train is located, from backdrop to fascia edge?

Just wondering what your plans are for access and reaching everything once the scenery is in. It’s okay now since you can poke up between the benchwork members, but it’s gonna get tougher once all that wonderful looking benchwork is covered with scenery. [swg]
