My shots of the Holiday Train

So, every year CP runs two holiday trains across their lines in Canada and the US. They’ve been doing this since 1998, but I rarely get the chance to shoot one. (There’s always SOMETHING important that comes up!)
This year, I missed it in Calgary, but followed it to Banff where I caught it in a dark snowstorm. Mind you, that didn’t stop everyone from coming out to see!
Click on the thumbnail for a larger photo and a little more information! I’ll post a few more today as time permits.

Here’s another one to tide you over!

Holiday train? What holiday is celebrated in December? here in Canada we celebrate a thing called Christmas, I can’t think of any other holiday that we celebrate here other than Boxing Day, which really isn’t a “holiday” although we do have what we call up here “summer holidays” which I believe Americans refer to as “vacations” Anyway, Merry Christmas to all.

Matthew:

Nice photos! Points to you for getting out on what looks to be less than ideal conditions!

I’d have probably been out there wearing TWO sets of Carhartts and Insulated boots! [:-^]

The results were well worth the discomfort… Thanks for sharing —Merry Christmas, and a Happy Nooooo Year[(-D]

Absolutely love that below-the-tracks night shot!!!

Shoosh, there’s Hanukkah and Ramadan. It’s not like everyone in Canada is Christian…you and I celebrate Christmas, other people celebrate other things. It’s a train that’s trying to feed the hungry, how can you possibly have a problem with it?

Sam: It was only about -15 or so with wind chill, so I didn’t even lose any fingers shooting without gloves on!

Bradd: Thanks! It was the best I could work in while the crowds were still swarming.
