After 2.5 years of neglect, I decided that I needed to get back on track with my website. On the 16th of this month, I started the process of rebuilding the site. The basic format will remain the same, however, I deleted most of the pictures that were on there and I will post anything that is not a SD70M or AC4400CW.
Oh, my website is called “The Kirkwood Station Photo Archive” and I used to post all of the shots I took in Kirkwood there, however, most of them were not good. In addition to the rebuild, I am adding a new sub page on Non-Kirkwood Subjects. The subjects are are arranged by railroad, and I have so far added 4 sub-sub pages.
I would like to ask the forum members to please review the site as a work-in-progress an to please give me your input either here on the boards or in the message boards.
The website link is http://www.freewebs.com/kirkwoodup4000, so please, enjoy!
It’s not bad. Am I viewing it correctly as a blog with embedded photos or is supposed to be more of a photo archive site?
Hey Jim! You’ve got a good start there. Though I do have some constructive criticism for you…

white text on dark blue background is ok, but the blue links are absolutely horrendous… A different link color would definitely be a must… Also, the KCS page has red text on grey background – that’s not really good either…

organization – Your home page is, well… a mess! All of those “news” things should probably go on their own page, or pages, or something. The only reason I got anywhere else around the site was just from clicking random links – some of which took me to JPGs, others that took me to actual pages – it may be well worth it to have some kind of obvious signal in the links to JPGs. Your links to your main pages should all be up near the top, probably right under that nifty header image – dig the DRGW-style lettering treatment, BTW!

Speaking of the header image, you should probably move that up a bit. Try moving the counter down to free up some space, if necessary.

No SD70s? Hmmm… your URL has UP 4000 in it… that doesn’t quite sound right… [;)] But I do get your point! Maybe keep the new stuff to a minimum, without a complete ban…
Well, that should get you started. If you’re interested, check out my 3um (Fuzzy World 3 forum), I’ve got a section on there for discussion of websites.
Also, one more thing… What are you using to edit your site?
