Today I was at the Augusta Lynx(ECHL AA hockey team)first pratice so watched them for about 2 hours then went outside when they were done,so I heard a horn of a NB CSX train my grandfather and I got in our truck and got in a spot and watched it then about the 50th car a HJMX(built as MP date 11-67) coal car # 87091 wheels were not moving and had sparks coming out from the wheels. Told my grandfather then after the train we chased it to a crossing in Augusta after the spilt from the McCormic Sub and GA sub it never came so we looked around then saw it on the GA sub.We chased it looked in Harrisonville Yard about 60 cars had gone by and the engineer said ‘‘N224 with CSXT 538 clear White road switch’’ we still had a chance so we went fast to get to it then caught up with it with 5-7 car links to go to the crossing so my grandfather got out and waved his WSOR hat(which was red)hoping to catch the attention of the engineer or conductor which he did and the train came to a stop.He told the conductor then followed us to the truck then showed him where the car was and watch him try to fix it after 3 to 5 minutes the wheels moved and then we took him back to his train then shook our hands and thanked us and even asked if I was going to go in the rail bisness and asked me my age and said I was a good person or something and he said that he was going to tell the yard master or somebody else but wasn’t sure what CSX was going to do.
so right now N224 is somewhere with no car problems and is going to have a safe trip [:)] and who knows what we are going to get for what we did.
