So we go to hobby lobby tonight, got our 40% off coupons, thought maybe could pick up some N-scale track, she needs a picture frame, you know, the usual, ended up going back to the clearence sale area and are looking at some atlas remote switches that are marked under $4.00 so great, then she says " oh look there is one of those G-scale train sets, and it’s marked from $179.00 down to $65.00, we should get that ", so the upshot is we now own a bachmann big hauler 4-6-0 Pennsylvania with 2 passanger cars and a big oval of track, now i know little about G-scale other then compared to my N-scale stuff it is massive, but was this a good deal, i think i have read that that engine is as good one, does any one know?, and did i mention the greatest wife ever! thing?.
That’s prettttty awwwwsome for sure. My wife comes through pretty good for me. I had over a $100 to go to the Train show this past weekend. Ahhhhh, worked out well too.
Congrats, that sounds like a big jump, a BIG JUMP!!! LOL
Thats a sign from her she wants to build a garden railroad with you. Take the opprotunity and run with it.

I don’t get it, but how do the wides ALWAYS find the good deals. When my wife and I went to the train show last weekend, she found some left and right brand new Atlas switches for $7 each. Maybe its in there genes to find good deals. Since moving to PA from NC there is no Hobby Lobby here. Thats another store I miss.
WIDES?[:O] Freudian slip, I hope.[:I] Otherwise I’ll pray for your continued good health…[:D] Gary
I guess thats what I get for not reading it before posting. [:-^]
You are aware that “broad” is a synonym for “wide” aren’t you? [(-D]

That’s a good story. Enjoy the G guage train. That’s quite a change from N Scale!
$65 is a GREAT deal! Your gonna choke when you go to buy aditional items in that scale![(-D]

Robby, hit the edit button quickly.
Sales are in the female genome. I believe it was the first gene pattern cataloged.

Isn’t it amazing how our womenfolk can cause major course changes in our modeling. I have fond memories of a lady friend who switched me from New York Central to Japanese prototype on my birthday in 1960. All it took was a brass locomotive kit that built up into a Japanese tank loco…
Later that year, we formalized our relationship. Both marriage and choice of prototype are still going strong, 47+ years later.
Chuck (modeling Central Japan in September, 1964)
She put brass on your layout and you put gold on her finger…not bad at all. Congratulations…a marraige that stable is a rare commodity these days!
Ain’t that the truth! My wife is the reason I’m in N scale now…and the reason I’m building a layout to sit on top of our dining room table when I’d given up on having a layout.
That is great, but I am afraid I judge wives on a little different scale than it appears you do. [:D]

Be carefull very carefull, and maybe a bit afraid too.[}:)] This is called the shopping bug that all women have. She will use that as the excuse because it makes her feel good. Now if you don’t do something with that G scale purchase she will keep reminding you until you do. You see now she has a hand in controlling your own hobby to do list. I drive my wife a bit nuts as I am very specific with my purchases. When I say I need some more covered hoppers it does not mean for her to buy any one she sees or tell the family that they would make a great gift. We all know where that will go.
I am just saying where could that money have gone towards your current project. Now you have created a new project, which may be a good thing, but may take away from your n-scale time.
Be carefull.[;)]
Isn’t this just typical. A female goes about her devious ways and us dumb guys think it’s great and say thank you!
Let’s see, you were in n-scale, which is in the house, and the wifie sees something big and flashy and says Oh look at that, isn’t it “neat” let’s (let “us”) get it. Of course this is for “outside” the house. If she had said “get your trains out of the house”, would you still think it’s great and she’s wonderful? [:-^]
It was mentioned before to be careful. Perhaps they should have said “Be afraid, be very afraid”.

I guess I will spoil the juxtaposition by posting this. This thread will go to the top while the one next door stays in the same place.
As I opened this thread, it read “My wife is the greatest wife ever!!!” Entirely by chance I assume, the next thread read, “Wow, what a view!!”
Anywa, I think my wife is good looking and she tolerates, and often even appreciates, my trains.
My girlfriend is a BRAT[angel]. However she is a cute brat and she did get me a Pioneer Zephyr Christmas before last. So…I can’t complain. I’ll keep her.[;)]

PS. And she doesn’t look at this forum. [(-D]
Let me set this up a little; On December 27th my 20 year old son scraped my 2002 Buick, nobody hurt. This morning my wife tells me to go buy the car I want to replace the Buick, I made a deal for a red 2007 Ford Fusion 14,000 KM, love it full load, leather heated seats and… . Before I finalize the deal, I call her just to make sure it’s OK, she says just make sure it has a spoiler! Done.
This afternoon we are driving to IKEA to help my daughter to bring home some stuff she bought when I drive by my LHS and my wife reminds me about the decoder I need to buy, I even forgot about it, talk about a wonderful wife, I’ve been with her for 31 years so there is hope out there for you guys!
