The other morning my wife comes to me very happy and tells me I have a surprise for you I got you something for your trains. Oh I love surprises maybe a new brass engine or a FSM kit or a new Broadway Limited Locomotive that I leave drool stains on the advertisements. I told said ok what is it she hands me a box a very big box of the contents of the gondola in the pic. I scratched my head for a few minutes until she told me what it was. Maybe you can use this for your trains she says with a smile. So as not to be a DH I smiled and said sure I can think of a lot of uses car loads comes to mind first.
They look like lock washers found at any hardware store. I use my imagination and use them as scrap steel for a model junk yard or something. You can always paint them a rusty color. Just my [2c].
Hello they look like a lock washer to me. Cut them in half or smaller and use for scrap pipe. Good coat of rust and you should be good. Hope this helps Frank
They are crimp rings. They are used to hold various types of wire fencing together including chain link. There is a crimping tool you can buy that is made for them specifically although it is probably to big to fit in the next gondola.[:D]
Yes, I would because that is what I was going to say.
What is nutty about it? I’ve made several suites of chain mail through the years - I’m just going to have to stop getting fatter. Blacksmithing has been a “family trade” for years. I collect and make swords too. Took 2nd place in the last tournament I was in. I also Fence.
The people on Craigslist are probably showing your trains and calling you nutty. Sort of like the fire box calling the ash pit dirty.
