This little switch grinder has been in the Twin Cities the last few days. I caught it at St. Anthony after work on Monday…

It is owned by RailWorks - someone said it was a Jackson Jordan switch grinder but I’ve not been able to find much if any real info on them. I’m used to the Loram grinders around here… Anyone know much about these particular grinders?
Andy
18-24 stone switch grinder built & pioneered by Harsco/Fairmont . Railworks bought two of the original Fairmont units several years back as did Balfour-Beatty (old Knox Kershaw).
The units grind crossovers, switches and road crossings that big production units skip.
Thanks much - I thought it might have been from Fairmont but wasn’t sure…
Fairmont, eh? It looks like a highly modified 44-tonner pulling a modified slug.

Now THATS a Fairmont!!!
I spotted this lil’ critter at the Milwaukee Depot about a month ago…

Thanks for the info - I also found that this unit at one time belonged to Pandrol Jackson. When they
merged with Fairmont Tamper it was deemed surplus and now belongs to RailWorks.
Forgot to report that the Loram grinder Mark saw in Milwaukee has been working on CP in St Paul the last few days…
