On or around the 15th of May 2006, I will be officially opening the N&M Railroad to hauling and passenger service. That being said the agricultural pursuits of the Micaela Valley cannot wait. Here a road engine pulls some of the first produce of the year…
Here is the current encarnation of Ian’s Curve…I will, of course, be adding more trackage to this and maybe a siding for unloading produce. This is named after Ian of Australia, Ian Brown.
Now, this is what it is all about… Below “The Boo” takes control of the line. It will be an excellent harvest year. Expect a copy of the Two Trees Times soon!!!
Looks good Cappy! I will be ready on the 15th, I still have to install my track though! AHHH! and this rain just never stops!. Well, spring break starts today and I have 11 days off, so maybe I will have a couple good days! I will try my best! I will work in the rain if i have to! hehehe!
Stay tuned and I want to get out a copy of my paper also! To much stuff! lol! i’ll get working on that tomorrow!
Capt, Nice to see ya running, hope to be running this year myself. Give her many hug and kisses before she turns 14 and doesn’t want anything to do with ya[:D]. I’m talking from experience[;)]
Hey Capt.,
That is so great to see. Your daughter is adorable! Waiting for things here to dry up so I can do my own expansion. Need to do a whole lot more planting too. Adding more track to make a double loop. Also plan to start construction on a water tower soon. Using a coffee can for the tank. Should be a fun project. Thanks for the pics. Later eh…Brian.
Your railway and daughter look terrific; have you become a father again yet?
How soon do you think it will be before you get a complete loop, things will change for the better, to a tremendous extent when you can go round and round!
I have just completed (nearly) my first building with Jigstones, I have done a lot of other things but this is the first building off plans and i will copy you and Brian when it is installed. Anyone else interested, let me know. It is a large station complete with light and telephone bvox.
It is getting cold here now we are only about 7 weeks out from winter and it got down to 20 deg C a few nights ago.
It is good to hear from you. I had forgotten that your seasons are the inverse of ours in the Northern Hemisphere.
I look forward to seeing your plans and pics.
The loop grows slowly since I have to mail order the track from places far away. I was able to add some feet to Ian’s Curve, my next feat will be to add some trackage to Poor Vic’s Curve on the exact opposite of the line. I’m gonna try to play some extra gig for money. The side opposite of what currently is the Garden will have a sort of yard facility (or at least some sidings).
I plan to put a siding at Ian’s Curve and eventually some structures or platforms.
Have you considered getting a blog? I have a free one from blogspot. It allows you to upload pics and post them in a pretty simple manner. You can also make picture links to his forum.
Hey Capt.,
Not exactly sure how soon I can start this project but I will be sure to take pics. The base will be built from cedar that I will rip from fence boards on my table saw. Have an idea of what I want…just need the time! Later eh…Brian.
Hi Capt C
Looks like you will need a cold store and Ice works before an air field[:D]
What are you using to define the railway reserve.
you do realise later your daughter will probably want her own train[8D]
regards John
Is that a Bachmann or a LGB engine? Most of my engines are AC, USA, & MTH
I only have a Hesiler that is Bachmann The layout looks great Glad to see it up and running
Ed
It hasn’t been too bad. We’ve had some rain (and hail!) so things right now are pretty green. But I’m dreading the summer, though…
I’m taking my layout pretty slow right now. I’ve got some landscaping to do in the front first, and trying to decide on if I should put the layout in the back or the front yard. Back is good because you can sit out under the porch and the fans and watch the train go by, but is open season for my daughter and her soccer practice. Front is good because no soccer balls bouncing, but if you have guests there’s no place really to sit and watch the train. You’d have to bring out chairs, and it would limit the operating time to late in the day, early evening.
