I sure don’t want to rain on anybody’s parade but katousadotcom is carrying an announcement for an N Scale Daylight set - this has been floating around for the past ten days or so - but I couldn’t find anything on their website carrying diddly about anything to do with the Standard Railroad of the World. It may carry some truth but I suspect that it is just a WAR picked up in a BS session.
Folks “in the know” have indicated there were to be two announcements, but that due to a glitch, they were not simultaneous. The word was one for the east coast and one for the west.
It’s been announced on other forums, confirmed by attendees at the National Train Show.
GG1s and the full Broadway Limited! We don’t know what year, yet, though… neither do we know specifics about which GG1 schemes. But who cares! This is awesome news!
For once the N scale Pennsy guys get something before the HOers!
This almost makes up for the fact that they can get a K4 from four different manufacturers, and the best we have is a late 1970s Minitrix with no electrical pickup and pizza cutter wheels.
Dave, don’t get me wrong; as I have said on numerous occasions I sincerely hope that this does come to pass if for no other reason than it will give me a mechanism to kitbash/scratch a 1-D+D-1 and build me some freelanced boxcabs to fit over it running as a back-to-back set.
Lets see! Uncle Irv just got done introducing a Challenger and is supposedly building a Big Boy; a Cab-Forward is in the offing from Intermountain; Kato’s announcement on their Daylight offering indicates that a GS4 is being developed - getting kind of busy aren’t they? - lets hope that once they have the boiler available that they will start thinking GS6; and now there is speculation that that same Kato has the GG1 on the drawing board. I am sure that the Santa Fe technical and modeling society - the country’s largest - hopes that as soon as all this shakes itself out it might just come to pass that in the next three or four years there will be a 2-10-4 gracing dealer’s shelves.
As for me I am still hopeful that someone will build an H-8 or an EM-1 or an M3/M4 or a ‘Big Emma’ or a . . . . . . . . . . Holding my breath waiting for this will probably lead to my demise. Farewell All!
EDIT: Someone - PCI? - has been announcing the imminent arrival of an M1a/M1b since the year that Custer was a plebe at West Point. Add that to the list in my second paragraph above.
Glad to see that the recent trend of more prototypical passenger trains and motive power are coming in N scale too. While I’m not tempted to switch to N scale or the RR I model, it is heartening to see so many new items being offered.
