I keep hoping for the same in the flavor of an Alco S2. Kato or Atlas, are you listening? Either with a decoder or a drop in conversion. Undecorated will do nicely.

Con-cor has already made these, but they are rather dated and not too accurate. I have one in N&W and it runs like an old Bachmann.
You should check out the LifeLike SW8 & 9’s. I understand that they are very good, although not DCC ready.

i’m waiting for atlas to come out with the mp15 in the fall. i have several of the sw1500’s cow and calf sets that were made by rivarossie with their drive mecanism and concor with the kato drive and niether were good runners and the sloped cab roof wasn’t too prototypical although there is a prototype for it. they were too lite to pull much but would work better if they were hooked together with a draw bar and wired together for 16 wheel pickup.
