I took my F59PHI apart to install a DZ123 decoder. Digitrax’s instructions say to VERY CAREFULLY (their caps, not mine) solder the orange and gray wires to the motor brushes. Well, I thought I was being “very careful”, however, the soldering iron melted the plastic and the brush holders came out. To make a long story short, I removed the motor, reinstalled the brush holders and the motor runs fine, but in removing the motor, it came loose from the universals driving the worm gears. I can’t figure out how to reinstall the motor without removing the trucks, putting the motor in position and then sliding the trucks back in place. Crying or Very sad The only problem is that I can’t figure out how to remove the trucks. Can anyone help? This is not made like your normal Atlas or Kato loco with a split frame. There’s also not an exploded view in the box.
I remember on either the Atlas N Scale forum or the TrainBoard N Scale forums, someone has discussed the Athearn F59PHI, if you don’t get any results you may want to try them, both boards are great guys.
Thanks, but the Atlas N search hsn’t worked for some time now, and while the Trainboard site has a number of posts about the F59 PHI, but none that answer my question.
Sorry, I think sometimes in getting a reply or response is timing, I have seen days were a person can post a unique question and in 2 minutes the world is on the case. I saw you post at Trainboard, looked like a slow night there.
