I just recieved a new Atlas RS3 and an Alco C-420. I want to repaint these and need to remove the shells etc. Me and these things don’t get along all that well, so I could really use some advice on removing these, like what comes off first and basic stiff like that. Thanks
You should be able to pull off the fuel tank, then grasp the metal frame there with one hand and gently wiggle the entire shell off from there.
If you have one of the older RS-3’s, (mid 90’s or earlier) it’s a bit more involved, but the newer ones should pull right off. It’s a simple friction fit over the split frame mechanism.
Hope this helps.

If it’s similar to all the other Atlas models, then try starting at the end by the steps if you have a problem. Usually works for me just be gentle.
Hey thanks for the info came off quite easy once i had this I had older Atlas stuff and it never came off like this The big reason i got the RS-3 was i had an older RS-3 from Atlas , b4 flywheels and wanted to try using its shell b4 i had to paint the new one and once o removed some tabs from the cab part , it fits great next is paint the C-420
thanks again
