Could somebody tell me what track i would need to do this…
I want to basically have a figure 8 but instead of connecting at a crossing i will have a bridge passing over the other track.

I used to have an Atlas set like that. I’m sure they still make the pier set that would mate up with their code 80 sectional track to make the plan you mentioned work. I seem to also remember that there are variations of this plan in their “Nine N-scale Layouts” book (available at most hobby shops), which are plans based on using their code 80 line of track. You might want to check that out. Good luck!
If you’re a beginner, Atlas sectional track works great. It comes in 9 3/4 inch radius, or 11 inch, or 19, and of course, straight sections. A full length straight section is, I think, 5 inches long, and an assortment of shorter straight tracks is available in a package. You can also buy 1/2 sizes for the curved tracks. This should be a great way to make that figure eight. To make sure your uphill climb or ‘grade’ is not too steep, put straight track on a board 8 feet long. Raise one end of the board 2 inches (which is the clearance n scale needs for one track to pass over another track), and try to run a small train up the hill on that board. If it’s too steep, your engine will have problems. If it climbs okay, you’re ready to build that rise into your layout without worry. Two inches of rise in 8 feet will be about a 2% grade. 2 inches in 6 feet is about three percent, and even a hill that steep should work out alright for most n scale engines. Good luck.
