N-scale Carolina Central layout

Hello,

I feel like I am still quite a rookie in the model railroading hobby and I know I have alot to learn. I am a teacher that has had a N-scale layout in my classroom for several years. Do to lack of space this year I don’t have my train in my classroom and I do REALLY miss it. I am to the point though that I want to revamp my layout or do something different. Some time ago I bought a publication that is put out by Modle Railroader called Modle Trains, Step by Step. It has 8 layouts in it and one is an N-scale layout called The Carolina Central. It does show the materails needed to build it and does have a drawing/picture of the layout. It ISN’T a very detailed drawing/picture to show how to go about building the layout. I am wondering if anyone knows where I can get more detailed plans on how to build this layout. Is there a book that has the plan in it, or can I find them on the Internet somewhere? Thanks.

Here is a listing of back issues for the N Scale Carolina Central in Kalmbach Publications…

There was also a “redux” of the Carolina Central in the December 2006 Model Railroader using Kato Unitrack this time around…

There is a (new?) book out called “N Scale Model Railroading: Getting Started in the Hobby”, by Marty Mcguirk, and the last 2 chapters are filled with photos of the author building the Carolina Central. It’s not 100% step by step, but it does seem to present good tips and very nice photos.

I didn’t want to redo another forum listing for the CC. So my question is… Does everyone knows what factory building kit is used in that track plan? And do they still make it???, or revised it differently? I really like that structure.

Kibri kit #7320 - “1870’s Factory” and kit 7322 - “1870’s Boiler House with Chimney”

Thanks DSchemitt.

That’s was worth the two cents.
