Does anyone know how to make a code 80 to 55 transition? Can you solder the rail, make a hybrid 55-80 joiner using the two joiners?
The easiest way I know of is to slip a regular joiner onto the code 80, then flatten the other end with some pliers. Now lay the code 55 on top of the flattened part and check that the railtops are level. Adjust as necessary with the pliers. Next, lay the track in place and solder the whole thing together.
The game changes if you’re using Peco track as thats really just code 80 layed deeper in the ties to look like code 55. Just join it as usual.
I don’t think anyone makes a transition joiner.
Thanks Phillip - Nobody makes a transition joiner. I tried slipping some styrene under the 55 and it’s impossible. I will try your method. Thanks again.
