I’m looking for N scale locomotive detail parts.
I know BLMA and Details Associates have some great parts…But that’s all I seem to find.
I’m looking for nothing specific…So feel free to throw out anything and everything. I’m considering what I want to put on my Steasel.[^]
My 2006 Walthers N-Scale wishbook has 18 pages of superdetail parts - and they are likely to have even more in their new one which should be out in about four to five months. Only part of these are going to be locomotive parts - but keep in mind that almost any manufacturer of locomotives (particularly diesels) is going to have a certain amount of spare/replacement parts.
There are other lines which Walthers does not carry. Cal-Scale/Bowser used to have some N-Scale locomotive parts but we’re talking Ancien Regime here. The thing to do is come up on the websites advertised in N-Scale and N-Scale Railroading magazines. I can’t tell you just which ones but some of those sites are rather substantial with a considerable listing of parts. Another source might be NTRAK; I’m not exactly sure just where your desires in this area lie - if they are in steam then NTRAK has an information book out on N-Scale steam locomotives that does have information on improving, among other things, appearance. Its going to cost you twelve bucks to find out unless, of course, there is an NTRAK club in your area in which case someone there may have a copy you could peruse.
This brings up another point; seek out a club and get acquainted with some of the members. Awhile back there was a modification article in one the mags and they were talking about details from a manufacturer I had never heard of before; there are a lot of obscure little shadetree manufacturers out there and someone at your local NTRAK club will be able to set you straight.
Keep us posted.
