Does anyone know of any heavyweight baggage cars in n scale? I have the baggage/coach from model power that came out a while ago, but I’d like to add a full baggage car to my roster. The roadname doesn’t matter, as I’ve been repainting them to the home road. The rest of the cars are ~80 footers, but I don’t think it would matter if the baggage car was shorter, right?
Thanks!
nick.
Riverossi had some out a few years back, and Bachmann made some Harriman cars (60’ or so, they need some good trucks put under them though), but other then the Model Power ones, thats all I know of. Good heavyweights are a big hole in N scale.
Currently, the only source of heavyweights in N-Scale that I am aware of is Mr C’s six packs and they only come available that way. Over on some of the other N-Scale specific forums everyone is slobbering over Kadee/Micro-Trains upcoming heavyweight offerings but knowing that company’s production practices it might be ten years - if ever - before you see a full-length baggage car. I will make a prediction right now that Mr E will probably produce these for two or three cars and then loose interest and the MT passenger cars will become collector’s items!
Thanks a lot for the help. What’re “Mr. E” or “Mr. C”? I had trouble finding those.

One possible option might be to get a passenger car core kit, or to pick up a suitable car at a swap meet (ISTM that diners and observation cars can be found out of proportion totheir usefulness), and look for a suitable brass car side.
Mr C are the folks at ConCor. Any RR heavyweights still in stock at this point may be from pld shells & parts laying around the Tuscon plant. Get them while you can.
Mr E is the PTB at MTL. We’ll see if they follow the plan of the new Z scale passenger cars to be released this winter: 4 cars for a road per month, with several posible car numbers per car. I don’t know what MTL will announce at the NTS.
I’m surprised MTL dosen’t release some baggage car conversions of their Troop Sleepers. THey must be waiting for a kitbasher to start on the project, by plating over the windows & cutting in a baggage car door.
You may find a full baggage car in the MP fleet, but not part of their 4 car set.
A new source are the Wheels of Time cars. They look like very nice cars. THey are in the $25 category. Hope you don’t need too many of those.
