N scale kato F40PH decoders?

Hey guys, I’m sorta baffled. I need a decoder for my Kato F40PH, but I can’t seem to find any drop-in decoders designed for them. And I definitely don’t want to take a dremel to the frame halves. I know digitrax makes decoders for Kato F units, and seeing that these engines are about the same length, are they’re curcuit boards the same? Also, has anyone installed decoders in the F40PH yet?

I will be happy to see if you get any input on this topic. I am thinking about purchashing one. How does it run (assuming you have ran it)? What type of engine does it have (4 - 5 pole)?

the DN163KOA fits the loco, but you have to move the LEDs right up against the board, and file the LED down a bit to clear the shell, or better yet replace them with surface mount LEDs

Thanks[8D]. Today I might go to the store and see if they have any of these decoders.

The loco has a five pole motor . And it runs excellent on DC, just as most Kato’s do( except for that SD with the bad pickups)
