N scale manual switch advice

Hello, I want to ask who is making manual N scale switches that are good quality and that might work with older equipment?

another question in same direction . if i get switches that will work with the larger wheel flanges , will the modern smaller flanges function ok?

im considering using as many manuals as i can to keep things simple and easier for me with my vision woes and make less complex wiring.

much thanks as always, John

I’m assuming that you’re running DC and not DCC?
Peco c55 switches are of very good quality and shouldn’t give you any problems with older “pizza cutter” flanges, since they are really a c80 sunken into the sleepers.
Add a ground throw and you’re all set.

I’d also add to Kyle’s comments that Peco’s have a spring that holds the points against the rails when thrown. This is a disadvantage with slow-throw switch machines like Tortoises (the spring fights the Tortoise until enough motion causes the switch to throw), but should be a plust when they are manually thrown.

Peco also makes Code 80 switches.

I use Atlas Code 80 manual switches. After getting them I decided to use caboose Industries ground throws to operate them manually. So I had to remove and discard the Atlas manual mechanisms. If I had known from the start that I would use ground throws, I would have bought Atlas Custom Line switches (which come without mechanisms) and saved a few pennies.

You might also want to look at the thread on this forum entitled “Peco switch machines” in case you haven’t already read it.
