n-scale roadway lines

What methods have you used for “painting” the roadway with the centerline and edge pavement markings? Paint? Graphic arts tape? It will be fairly recent style markings with a double yellow center and white edge lines.

Thanks, Mike

I have no roads on my N-scale layout (go figure), but I have seen some on a few other layouts. Some try to paint by hand but I think that method (from what I’ve seen) has mixed results - usually not very good. I think either a tape or paint with a stencil would look better.

Try posting your question (or searching) on the Atlas or Trainboard N-scale forums too. They tend to have a higher concentration of N-scale modelers there.

Hi Mike,
I model N scale and you have to have a road somewhere,Woodland scenics offers Dry transfer sets in both yellow and white lines in different widths that are suitable for n scale,These may be cut in length and then applied to your roadway,Check out there website.

I used white and yellow gel pens which I got from Michaels. I used a ruler for straight stretches and lightly marked a line with a compass and pencil and followed it freehand for the curves. Granted the lines are not perfect and the dashes are certainly not all the same size, but I’m not a picker of nits or a counter of rivets.
