I have some rolling stock that has the couplings attached directly to the truck(s). These seem to derail much more frequently then the Micro Train cars (which rarely derail) that have the coupling attached to the body of the car itself. I want to buy more rolling stock. Is the Micro Train design superior?
TIA

Perhaps if you edit your subject to include āN Scaleā you might get some replies.

Actually, most N scale Micro Trains cars DO have the coupler attached to the trucks. In most other scales, ātalgoā couplers (those attached to the trucks) are a big no-no, and frowned upon. However, they actually work in N scale, and I havenāt heard many bad things about them (I model in both N and HO).
Most N scale modelers who mount their couplers to the bodies are considered āfine scaleā modelers, but the VAST majority of N scalers leave 'em as Talgos.
In my Ntrak club, we regularly run 50-75 car trains of all talgo-equipped cars, without any problems.
Perhaps it isnāt a problem with your cars, but your track. Rough trackwork is usually the cause of about 85% of the running problems in this hobby, for any scale.
