I always enjoy those articles and posts about using unlikely things to model. I have got one for you that is among the gosh doggonedest place to find a detail.

I checked your profile, hogwire, and could not find where you live. If you live near a seashore and there is a beach souvenir junk store near you… (this is an N scale model of the kind of store I mean…

Go to this kind of a beach souvenir seashell and junk store, and you will probably find they have toy plastic seagulls. Forget those. In N scale, they would be monsters. Go to the shell department and ask about sand dollars (an echinoderm related to the starfish). When the sand dollar is broken open, there are some tiny white bony structures inside (not really bones, this critter is an invertebrate) that look just like N scale models of seagulls. You might get a discount on broken sand dollars which are imperfect for the ordinary collctor or tourist but perfect for scavenging model seagulls.

Hello,

Thanks for the tip,I was thinking about souviner shops on the coast or the lighthouse store.

I never thought this part of the project would require so much innovation,I guess i’ll try everything.

Your model was very true to detail.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Try Mike Fiffer… at Fiffer Hobby… He has a great on line shop for N Scale and I’ve never had a problem with an order… He’s a good guy.

Hey Skipper,

You look mighty comfy in that Chair,I went to Mikes website and struckout with any type of Bird,i’ll try emailing him and see if he knows where to find them flying squirrels.

I have some HO scale Preiser birds. The smaller ones (doves, pigeons) could pass for N-scale seagulls, with a bit of paint. Unfortunately, they come in a mixed package. Maybe you’ve got some HO friends that would like to split it with you.

If you find them see if they carry N-Scale mosquitoes also.

Hey R.T.,

I’ll see if they have a N scale hat to cover your Brain also,

I’m going to leave this one alone! I haven’t been reprimanded by good ol’ Bergie for an INSULT101 response in a long time . . . . . . . . . . but I’m sure tempted!!! Bergie once told me to avoid smart comments but if I got smart with you how would you know?
