I am looking for a red (1970’s) Southern Railway Caboose N Scale that is ready to run. Where can I find this???
As far as I remember, nobody to my knowledge has made a caboose in N scale for a Southern Railway prototype. (That some manufacturers may have had their cabooses painted in Southern colors is quite probable.)
I think there is or was a Con Cor one available. No one seems to have it in stock. I am switching to doing the Boston & Maine anyways. I live in New England. Thanks for responding!
Bluford Shops made one-a center copula-Southern had 2 or 3 IIRC and Athearn will release a bay window lettered Southern on March IIRC.
There is no “accurate” Southern Railway caboose that I know of. The center cupola one referenced by someone else (Bluford shops) is inaccurate from all of the drawings I’ve been able to collect through the years.
There WAS a ConCor model decades ago that came “close” to a bay window but the rivet counters can tell you which nut, bolts, and rivets are wrong.
The bay window is before “my time”- I’m currently doing plans to scratch build a small fleet of Southern Railway WOODEN cabooses circa 1927.
For tech questions I suggest some of the Southern Railway discussion groups on Yahoogroups.
thanks everyone. Accuracy isn’t my biggest thing as I am kinda a newbie anyways. I more look to have matching colors, etc.
