Welcome to the forums.
Buying anything of ebay holds the same risks. I have purchased locos, rolling stock and other items of ebay and have been quite satisfied. Occasionally someone will say they got a raw deal, it can happen. Check the sellers ratings, new sellers, you kind of have to weigh the risks.
The one thing you want to watch is the price and shipping cost. Some folks seem to have a very high added shipping cost. Look up what the item costs at a dealer, online or local. If online, what is the dealers shipping cost. I have seen the price of items on ebay go higher than I could get the same item locally, plus they had to pay shipping. If it is an item no longer available, try to find what other such items have sold for on ebay.

First allow me to say with the wee scale(I can say that with pride…I model in N.) you’ll be wise to stick with Atlas,Kato and Walthers locomotives.
To answer your question…
Yes,some of my locomotives was purchase on e-Bay from dealers.
If you are interested there is a shop that carries used N Scale at good prices.
is atlas a good one
Suffice it to say all of my N Scale locomotives is Atlas.
