N&W J questions

ok, I was looking for advice on buying a train set and now I have another question. does anyone have the bantam N&W J and the bigger one so we can see what the size difference is? also it would be very cool if someone had those and the post war Lionel J. same for the SP Daylight. I’ve seen the bantams in a shop but never compared to the Lionels or Premier MTH’s.

thanx.

Scott

the Bantams always looked to me like a Postwar 746 on a 671 Turbine frame. the drivers are way to small

The set version is pretty undersized, and has a plastic tender but overall it is a fun engine to run.

Alex

there are actually three sizes of Js

the bantams.

the postwar 746 and its re-incarnations

and the full scale Lionel, IMHO the finest locomotive Lionel has ever made.

I have to agree with LL675 on the Bantam J. It looks like its sitting on stilts and got rear ended by a Y6B. Williams makes (or made) a good value priced J which is a postwar Lionel repro. The standard Railking model looks decent to but I can’t get used to the nickle driver rims. I have a postwar 746. It pulls well, smokes like crazy, and just plain looks good.

Here’s my Railking (non-bantam) J
