N&W "JOHN HENRY"

TRYING TO FIND HO SCALE MODEL OF THE STEAM TURBINE N&W JOHN HENRY, CANT SEEM TO FIND IT ANYWHERE.THANKS

The Jawn Henry has only been offered in brass, and sometimes they can be had on eBay. I have seen them on there maybe about 10 times in the last year. Awesome looking model. The prototype was quite impressive.

Edit: I forgot about this possible release… http://www.globaloutlet.com/norfolk-western-jawn-henry-c-25.html

Sam Tech is a top notch manufacturer, but that is still pretty pricey.

There was one on eBay a couple months ago. Now sit down. Ok?

The bidding started at $3500 and Buy it now was $4500. A beautiful brass model.

Ok, start breathing again. [:)]

SMITTY,THANKS APPRECIATE THE INFO I’LL CHECK IT OUT FOR SURE. COALDRAG

ALCO models imported the KTM built N&W steam turbine in 1981 and 82. ALCO models are not up to todays standards but they are really expensive since they were the only ones imported.

Try waiting for Global Outlet since they are bringing in a new Samtech model in the near future that will be cheap at $2200 considering the old models are very expensive and are not good quality.

I have one of the Global Outlets SF 2-10-4 models and they are the best you can get today.

Cheers

Rather a bizarre looking locomotive, just how long was this monster in real life??? and the price-the kids don’t need any shoes in the near future do they???

Use Yahoo or Google and search the 'Net for Jawn Henry. You will find a lot of info. I have seen videos of it in operation pushing coal drags.

I was watching that one. It was NEVER even bid on. I have seen 2 of these on Ebay within the last year that were sold. They are made by ALCO. The one that was unpainted went for $964.78. The one that was painted went for $1525.00. I have also seen 2 of them at different train shows for sale. I have never seen one go for more then $1625.00. And that was in mint condition.

fro m the link above: “The name given to this locomotive, “Jawn Henry” was taken from the legendary black construction worker who pitted his hammer and drill against a steam drill and died in the attempt.”

Just FYI, the legendary John Henry worked on the C&O (not the N&W!) , and died at Lewis Tunnel outside of Clifton Forge, VA. Or so the story goes. He’s supposedly buried at Lewis Mountain cemetary, alongside many others who died in a chain gang bridging the summit, at 2007 feet.

Ok, obscure facts. But they interest me. [:D]
