“Nenana Mayor Jason Mayrand is worried that changes by the Alaska Railroad Corp. will further cripple the town’s elusive tourism industry. Trains used to stop in Nenana, but now just pass through. After the railroad completes a project adding new lines bypassing the city, passengers will hear about Nenana from train tour guides, but will see only the outskirts of town.”
The AuRoRa only stops on demand during the winter season, when it is a once a week operation. During the summer the ARR operates a RDC train stopping on demand between Talkeetna and Hurricane. This area is inaccessable by road. The rest of the route is accessable from the Highway.
