Name change

I’d like to change the names on my Proto UP passenger cars. What process would create the least amount of damage to the yellow paint surface ?

The answer is going to depend on how the factory names were applied. If it’s a decal (not likely) you can use decal solution, and a pencil eraser. (This might also work on Pad Printed paints, which is the most probable way the factory names were applied.) Work slowly, and keep (frequently!) checking progress as you go. Word of caution though, aggressive rubbing (or erasing??? [*-)]) could cause the underlying color to come off as well. (Hence the slow, frequently checking advice.)

A better option, how well do you feel you would do on touch-up? I ask because the neatest, (and most guaranteed to work) option would be to do a thin (minimal) overspray of the name area, and re-decal (or first decal…) the new name. For this, lightly wet-sanding the area first may help, but more likely to go through the underlying color also… So if you choose this, you will most likely need to at least repaint the name area.

When I changed my name, I went down to the court house with some paper work and $75.00.

Now all of my ID cards agree on who I am.

Oh… You wanted to change the name on a model car. Well, do not ask the LION about that because he starts with a can of spray pand from down at the hardware store.

Oh well good luck with your project.

Lion:

You should have just sprayed your drivers license and used decals. Would have saved you $75 and a trip to the courthouse. You could have bought a lot of raw meat for that.

If this is your home road name you wish to apply, I would attempt to remove the U.P. name as mentioned here earlier and then paint a color band on that name board area ( of your choice) and then re decal with the name you wish to use.

I tried that, but the TSA had catniptions!

ROAR

Lion,

My kitty like catnip though! Don’t you? [:D]

Oh, wait, catniptions are different, aren’t they? [(-D]

My kitty would probably not like those…
