Nanticoke Branch FINALY

Laid the LAST piece of track today up at the “PAY-PAL” Mine. That was the last area that was to be redone for operation reasons.

Final Body Count (I hope)

978 ft of track, 142 Turnouts (128 Tortoise balance ground Throw) (6) Digitrax Boosters (6) Tony’s Power units (4 each) total 24. (2) PsRev. And all the DCC is Digitrax except for Tony’s and worked perfect from day one.

Thanks to RandyR, Chip, Selector and MrBeasley for answering all the DUMB Questions I had to start.

Well now to research the scenery around the mine. That was a real thrill, went from a simple Abandon Mine from an AHM kit to the Silver Slipper by Campbell to the Walthers New River kit. Now to redo the Town of LEE s that it all fits.

I was checking out your web site. Is that a computer touch screen your using for turnout control?

That is JMRI Panel Pro. That is teh main line only. Operators handle the sidings from the facia or ground throwes.

It has been perfect since it was set-up. Interface is via USB RR-CKTS. The CCTV keeps track from Dispatch so that the dispatcher can handle the routing.

Thank you for looking at the site.

Holy cow, George! 142 turnouts? And 128 are ground throws? I don’t think I could get all that done in my remaining lifetime. [:)] I have 11 turnouts and thought that was a lot of work!

The Walthers New RIver kit looks liek it could be bashed somewhat into an Anthracite Region breaker - only you’ll need aboyt 3 or 4 of them to make it big enough, at least as they were after consolidation in the 50’s. There are a lot of pictures around of the St Nicholas breaker on the Reading, typical of the large consolidated breakers in the region.

Not that bad 128 are Tortoise and the balance is caboose.

Hi Randy, I got pictures of the Wanamia Breaker and it is a MONSTER for sure. Will probably just fake the breaker and add the town.

Hope you have been well up in Pa. We looked at a house around Reading area but I think we will more than likley stay in the south.

If you haven’t seen it yet, this site is GREAT for anyone modelling the anthracite region.

Randy, that is a great site. Wish I had seen that before I got where I am. I can always redo that area!!

Your Bicolor LED for the tortoise is working perfect. I am updating all the Dwarfs and target signals to those. The club members are very happy with the on table visual of a turnout. Thanks for that tip.
