I am looking for an article, I believe from Model Railroader back in the 60’s or 70’s. It is about a railroad tie plant with a narrow gauge railroad. Would like to get a copy
I remember that article. It was a UP facility in Wyoming I think. I would say it was late 70s.
It’s probably this one in RMC
Build a tie treating creosote plant
by Melle, Gilbert J.
from Railroad Model Craftsman April 1965 p. 28
industry structure
A Narrow Gage Gazette article
I’m pretty sure it was MR. Because I didn’t get RMC then.
Hello “JustMe,”
That sounds like an article by an old friend of mine. Try:
"Build a wood-treating plant "
Model Railroader, November 1988 page 91
Article also published in HO Lineside Industries You Can Build , page 82
( “DURRENBERGER, CYRIL”, INDUSTRY, STRUCTURE, MR )
Cyril used the HOn2-1/2 MiniTrains engines and cars, recently available again from BCH International, www.bigcityhobbies.com. See the December 2010 Model Railroader, page 84.
Good luck with your wood treating plant,
Andy
Thank you, that is what I was looking for. Can’t thank you enough.
Cyril is a good friend to have!! I’m amazed at the stuff he does modelling the DM&N and D&IR (predecessors to the DM&IR - Missabe Road) c. 1910. He takes inexpensive plastic models from Life-Like, Athearn or Model Power and makes them into contest-quality models.
