Get the shots if you can while it’s still there, haha. I believe work is to be completed by 2011. It’s a shame, first BO CPL’s now the tunnels. But hey, if it will save a few bucks, increase some traffic, I’m all for it. I’ve got my shots and I’m…well…somewhat happy.

D’oh! Forgot about that. hahaha, thanks!

I thought the Sand Patch already had clearances for Double-stacks? Are they just fixing clearances or they going to add track capacity as well? Maybe they will put a new ingravement above the new tunnel. Maybe Pentrex will make a trip out their.

I also read CSX is planning to build a new Intermodal facility in Pittsburgh, though I do not know where.

Interesting piece with a number of links with information about what is going to happen with CSX and this project. I included a short quote from THE DAILY AMERICAN of Somerset County,(Pa.)

FTA: "…Some local projects include replacing a railroad bridge on Church Street in Garrett Borough, raising the Keystone Viaduct in Sand Patch and modifying the Pinkerton Railroad Tunnel in Black Township…"

This link is to an interesting CSX video about the impact of the North Baltimore Intermodal Facility and the National Gateway Project ( it has a pretty good illustrated map if the impactareas of the N.G. Project):
