National Geographic Infomation Center to let go of 1/2 there staff and close 2 of there 4 centers

THIS WILL MAKE IT HARDER TO GET TOPO MAPS THAT ARE UP TO DATE

Dear Mr. Tylicki,

I apologize for the tardiness of this response, but I've been out of the office. Your proposal is interesting, but we're not in a position to take on any new partners or work. The U.S. Geological Survey, the agency funded to produce the National Atlas, has decided to close two of its four mapping centers - including the one here in Reston. We have already lost half of our staff.

Dear Jay

Would your org. be intrestred in hosting the project?
I want to publish a free online railroad and transit
atlas. I belive that since the feds subsidise transit
and some railroads that a national railroad atlas
would be a good Idea.(FRA gives grants to railroads,
FTA to transit agentcys)
