Hard to do that since they (the cars) have been in Green Bay for 50 years! Good to hear that the cars are getting a sprucing up. They need it.

A small correction to the nomenclature. It’s London and North Eastern Railway.
Mallard achieved 126 miles per hour. The locomotive sustained significant damage in the attempt.

Mallard hit 126 mph for what, a mile or less and then failed.
AND no less an authority than the late Vernon Smith claimed in print that the PRR T1’s --slipppery as they were–hit 125 mph on a regular basis in service. Perhaps–like the moon program of my youth–we should make it a project of national pride and accomplishment to build that new T1 and use it bring the steam record home to the country–which in those years at least–hadh the greatest railroad system in the world.
Who is footing the bill to bring the engine over for display?
The British museum paid all costs for sending the DDE over and return, plus did a cosmetic restoration.
