Ok someone enlighten me, Gaston or Gastonia, North Carolina? Thx
Gaston is a small town 90 miles NE of Raleigh, near Roanoke Rapids. GastonIA is is a city 30 miles west of Charlotte. I’m pretty sure I recall the history that the Gaston terminus of the R&G no longer exists, and is not the same as present day Gaston NC.
is this near NS rails if so maybe southern 630/4501 could come visit.
Please note that there are no tracks remaining on the old Raleigh-Gaston Railroad fron Norlina to Gaston (Weldon N C) as they were removed many many years ago. However, there is railservice fron Roanoke Rapids west to Weldon on the old railroad so that various industries can be accessed by CSX.

I forgot to mention in prior post, that Gastonia is south-west of Charlotte on the old SOUTHERN Washington DC - Atlanta main line and is used by both Amtrak as well as Norfolk-Southern.
Also, I think that I’m correct in this, but there is a replica of the “TORNADO” in the Hamlet Railroad Museum in Hamlet N C where the old SEABOARD AIR LINE (CSX) had/has a major crossing of it’s old mainline.
